Young Persons Commission

Role & Remit of the Commission:

Represent the views of the youth within Scottish Volleyball to the SV staff, board and members


Members will represent the views of younger members on other Scottish Volleyball Commissions


Promote & develop volleyball participation & competition within primary and secondary education in Scotland


Assist with the development of the Junior SVL and Schools competitions


Discuss activities carried out in the previous year, and to project forward to arrange the activities for the forthcoming year and subsequent years


Meet the KPIs determined by the SV Board and by Sportscotland

Coaches Commission

Remit of the Commission:

Promote & develop volleyball coaching in Scotland


Manage the delivery of coaching courses


Provide for the development needs of the volleyball coach


Seek administrative support from the offices of SV


Organise an annual diary of coach education and CPD courses


Achieve the KPIs for coach education and development identified by the SV Board and by Sportscotland


Appoint all indoor National Team coaches. The Commission will have the responsibility for the agreement and monitoring processes for planning, budget requirements, performance, and an annual review

Special Events Commission

Remit of the Commission:

Assist Scottish Volleyball to coordinate and deliver events as prioritised by the Board and agreed to in the annual operational plans for staff (currently Cup Finals Weekend [CFW], Semi-Final Saturday [SFS], CEV Competitions [CEV]


Evaluate each event and use informed opinion to plan for future events for consideration by the Board


Ensure that all events meet the KPI’s set for them by the Board and by sportscotland


Lead the recruitment, retainment, and training of volunteers to assist at Scottish Volleyball events


Beach Commission

Remit of the Commission:

Provide a strategic approach to the development of Beach Volleyball throughout Scotland


Raise the profile of Beach Volleyball in Scotland as a development opportunity for all ages and abilities


Provide a structured approach to competitions which will raise media interest in the promotion of the sport at National and International Level


Encourage participation of the sport however it can, whether by coaching, refereeing or playing the sport for all ages and abilities


Encourage players, referees and coaches to constantly ‘raise the bar’ and improve standards

Referees Commission

Remit of the Commission:

Seek to improve the knowledge and skills of referees across all three disciplines


Disseminate the FIVB Rules of the Game and to inform the volleyball family within Scotland about changes to the Rules as agreed by the FIVB Congress as soon as is practicable and as soon as the framework within the Scottish game can comply with those rules


Create the promotional/ career structure of refereeing across all three disciplines


Write educational/ promotional material to encourage Refereeing and to determine the teaching programme, material and documents deemed necessary for the development of Volleyball referees across all three disciplines


Assist SV with the creation of a list of qualified referees at each grade


Supervise the organisation of courses and the instructors able to conduct courses at each level in cooperation with persons/ clubs/ other organisations authorised to conduct such courses


Set up the standard regulations for refereeing courses




Study and publicise the experiences obtained during referees courses and events both inside Scotland and at events abroad, concerning the theory and practice of refereeing


Nominate referees and other officials to specific events sponsored by Scottish Volleyball.


Provide Jury Members/ Technical Delegates/ Refereeing Delegates to events

  • Candidates for the Young Persons commission must be between 16 and 24 years old
  • Closing date 18th March 2024
  • Interviews for the Young Persons’ Commission will take place week commencing April 1st 2024
  • All other commissions are open to any member of Scottish Volleyball
